Spring 2021: Our Campus Libraries are Open

Everything is a little bit different as we live our lives during a pandemic, but that doesn’t mean we can’t continue moving forward with a little bit of caution and care. We are so pleased to be able to offer services to you this Spring 2021, both online and through limited in-person options.

While you might notice our in-person hours are shorter than previous semesters, not to worry! Our virtual reference is available 7 days a week with extended hours to ensure we can get your questions answered and find you the help you need. If you do come to campus for services that can't be done online, here's a little more information about what to expect in our CSN Libraries:

Mask When You Ask

Once you arrive on campus you will be required to wear a mask. So before you even get to the library you’ll want to put it on. This is a policy across CSN and the state, for the health of our community in public spaces. It also allows the library to stay open to provide what you need! It’s especially important that you mask up when speaking with our library staff, who will also be wearing them. If you enter the library without a mask you will be given one.

Sanitation Stations

Each campus library will have sanitation locations when you first enter the library space, so you can sanitize your hands upon entering. We also have increased cleaning protocols in place where custodial staff will be regularly cleaning high-contact areas such as door handles. We encourage good hygiene throughout your time at a CSN library. If you’re planning to stay longer than a few minutes, you’ll want to wash or sanitize your hands often. If you used a computer station, we ask that you wipe down any surfaces you touched with the disinfectant wipes at our sanitation stations before you leave. Copy machines will be cleaned by staff, but you'll want to sanitize your hands before and after use.

Musical Chairs

You might notice some of our chairs have been removed or that our tables are set up differently. We ask that you observe all new policies and signage posted, such as one person per study table and using only designated computers. Please leave all furniture pieces where they are since they have been configured to ensure optimal social distancing. Our biggest furniture change is the installation of plexiglass at all library desks to help prevent the spread of air droplets between students and staff.

More details and instructions on social distancing are posted on our website's reopening plan. We encourage using our online services as much as possible, but understand that not every transaction can be virtual. Please check our hours of operation before coming to campus and let us know if you have any questions about our changes. We always want to do our best to help you get what you need!
