Have you had a chance to meet Jennifer Reyes-Lopez, the newest Library Assistant at the North Las Vegas Campus Library yet? If not, here is your chance to learn a little more about her.

How long have you been at CSN as a student/student worker/library staff member?

As a CSN student, I started here in the Fall of 2016 to pursue my first degree in Associate of Applied Science – Computer Office Technology. I was a full-time and part-time student for the first three years of my degree. After finishing my first degree, I began my second-degree Associate of Business in the Spring 2019. Despite the numerous hardships and challenges that I faced while at CSN, I completed my second degree at the end of the Fall Semester, 2021.

I will walk across the stage at the Thomas and Mack Center for the Commencement Ceremony on May 16, 2022. I plan to celebrate my accomplishments with my family, who have been highly supportive of me at CSN. So, after five years of attending CSN, particularly at the North Las Vegas Campus, which has been my home campus since day one, I will officially say that I graduated with two diplomas.

In 2017, I began working as a North Las Vegas Library student worker. It was my very first job. I learned a lot over the past four years working there and I have so many memories to cherish. But my time working there was coming to end by the end of the Fall Semester 2021 since I just completed my program at CSN.

However, when they opened the position of Library Assistant II, I decided to take advantage of it by applying. I was ecstatic and grateful for the opportunity that they chose me for the job. Working as a Library Assistant II at the North Las Vegas Library for two months has been a joy and I am constantly learning new things.

Are you planning on continuing your education, and if so in what area?

I had done everything to make my family proud of who I am and how far I've come despite my challenges. I plan to continue my education and I'm currently taking a semester off. Studying at school, working two jobs, and working overtime at my previous full-time job took a toll on me. I hope to resume my journey and begin taking courses in Fall, 2022 at UNLV working towards a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Accounting.

What have you done in your life that you are most proud of?

My proudest achievement has been to never give up on my education. In high school, passing one of the four exit exams to graduate was difficult. I needed to pass all four Nevada High School Proficiency Exams (Mathematics, Science, Reading, and Writing). It took a lot of effort to get to where I am now. I had mentally given up at that point, but I had three incredible people rooting for me and telling me not to give up. Finally, I received my diploma after scoring a seven. I couldn't go to college and use my scholarship or Pell Grant if I didn't have it. As a result, I never gave up.
