Open Educational Resources: Available Now
Faculty: Are you struggling to find online sources that your students can get immediate access to? With the current situation that higher education is in, open educational resources (OER) are more important than ever before. While our library staff at CSN are busy scanning chapters of textbooks and sending them to students who need to access them, there is a better way to do this.
There are more open sources than ever before and it isn’t just textbooks. There are test banks, technology (software and hardware), simulations, lab manuals, data, videos, courseware and so much more.

If you have any questions or can’t find what you’re looking for, you can contact Librarian Gracie McDonough (email@example.com) and she will help you find the best sources for your class. She is currently in the OER Librarianship certificate program through Open Textbook Network and the University of Minnesota.
CSN has an OER taskforce with instructors from most disciplines who have been using OER in their classes. They would be happy to show you how they started with OER and what some great beginning resources are. There is always the option of writing your own open course material with a STEM Innovation and Impact grant from OSIT. For more information on the grant and CSN’s OER taskforce please visit https://www.csn.edu/oer.
