Joseph Camel and book

What inspired you to write the book?

I simply love children’s books—the pictures and stories—plus when I was younger, I always wrote short stories for my family to read. It has always been a dream of mine so that was also an inspiration.

Tell us about the audience for the book?

My audience can be of any age, but I specifically want to target grades 1 through 5. I want to give kids a little history on the cities that may be on their list of cool places to go. This is for their future travels.

How have you been promoting the book?

I have done book signings and readings at schools in California plus online advertising. CSN Libraries is the first library to carry my book, so I am very excited about this opportunity to share my book with students and staff at CSN.

Do you have plans for future books?

I plan to have other Little Joe books with the next one coming out it the Spring. It will follow Little Joe in Los Angeles. Then on to D.C. and more.

Can you share more information about your background and your future career plans after school?

I grew up in Southern California always wanting to achieve in writing with Journalism or becoming an author. I feel truly blessed to have been able to accomplish this before I’m even done with school. I also love politics especially when it comes to helping and educating the youth about certain issues that will impact them. I am now President of the Youth Voice of Nevada and am proud to help our community in any way possible. I also plan to run for public office in the future.

CSN Libraries thanks Joseph for sharing his journey with us and do check out his book at the North Las Vegas campus library.
