Project Muse is a humanities and social sciences database that is new to CSN Libraries. It is a non-profit collaboration between libraries and publishers that provides peer-reviewed academic journals and electronic books. You can find both eBooks and articles in your search results. Humanities include law, languages, philosophy, religion, mythology, gender and women’s studies, multicultural studies, pop culture, and art and music. What is a biography? Can you believe that the semester is almost over?! Final exams are December 13-17 and the week before that is study week. If you need a quiet place to go over all your notes that you took this semester you can come to the libraries. While you’re there on December 6 and 7 enjoy some individual snacks and goodies that will be provided. CSN's Queer Inclusive College Campus Committee (QICC) is holding its fourth annual "Human Library" event virtually this year on Thursday, April 29 from 11am to 1pm in Zoom. This is your opportunity to "read" about some interesting people! Human libraries function similar to other libraries except that in the human library, people--rather than books--are available for checkout. "Human books" are persons who have volunteered to challenge prejudices through respectful conversations with members of the community who borrow them. CSN Libraries are now donation drop off locations for the Coyote Cupboards. For more information about the Coyote Cupboards, please visit the Coyote Cupboard website. The Coyote Cupboard, a free pantry available to currently registered CSN students and staff, needs hygiene products for men and women, and any size bottles of water to help prepare for summer. Needed supplies include any size of unopened/unused shampoo and conditioner, soap/body wash, laundry detergent, lotion, hand sanitizer, toilet paper/wipes, toothbrushes/toothpaste, sunscreen, etc, and cases of bottled water. Studying history allows us to learn from the past and appreciate the present in order to build a better future. In the month of February, as we celebrate Black history and culture, CSN Libraries can help contribute to the conversations by sharing our academic resources on Black history. Sometimes visual media has more impact than words alone, so watching films can be a great way to explore and really start to understand the importance of Black History month. It has been over a year since we last had the Love Dogs come to the library to spread some joy. Since there aren’t many people on campus right now, and with social distancing being a priority, we figured we could have the Love Dogs join us for a virtual event on Friday, February 12th from noon to 1 PM. What could be better than having the Love Dogs with us for a very special Valentine’s event? Some of our favorite dogs who have joined us in the past will be there, along with Tommy the blind cat, a hairless guinea pig named Espresso, and a few new faces.
