Meet Our New Library Assistant, Tiera!

Raine Rosales

Please join CSN Libraries in welcoming the new Library Assistant at North Las Vegas Campus Library, Chetiera King. Tiera is a former CSN Libraries student worker and is a CSN graduate!

We asked Tiera a few questions to get to know her better.

Why did you choose to work at CSN?

While attending classes in 2022, I was hired through the student work-study program at CSN's North Las Vegas Library, where I learned the functions of the circulation desk and the library. I instantly fell in love with the environment, and during my time in school, I truly appreciated CSN’s welcoming atmosphere, the incredible staff, and the opportunity to assist and encourage students in their learning.

When I saw the opportunity to work full-time at the CSN Library, I was ecstatic! The College of Southern Nevada has played a significant role in my life—helping me learn, graduate, and build lasting connections with teachers, staff, and fellow students. I’m truly grateful to be part of such an influential institution once again and excited to use my knowledge to give back.

What are some things that you are most excited about in this position?

Having previously worked as a student worker at the NLV Library, I’m most excited to take on the new responsibility of training incoming student workers in the circulation desk operations and library procedures, as well as how to assist fellow students. I’m also looking forward to working alongside new and former staff and faculty to accomplish goals and make the CSN Libraries a welcoming, supportive resource for all students!

What are some of your hobbies and/or interests outside of CSN?

I have quite a few hobbies I enjoy! During my downtime I like designing stickers and bookmarks, dancing, reading, and watching scary movies. I also enjoy exploring the town and checking out the latest restaurants and coffee shops. My favorite so far has been Café Landwer.

What was the most interesting job you've had?

During the 2024 Super Bowl, I was hired by an artist for three days to work at his event at Resorts World, where I helped to try and sell his $20,000+ paintings of football players. It was completely outside of my comfort zone at the time, and I’m incredibly thankful for the experience. It pushed me to be more sociable, listen closely, and—most of all—to enjoy the moment! I met so many people from all over and I got to witness their reactions to some amazing artwork, as well as my attempts to sell it.

Thank you, Tiera, and best of luck with your new position.
